🪷 The Spiritual Purification Day: Melukat Ceremony

One of the retreat highlights is Friday's full-day spiritual journey. Guided by local wisdom keepers, you'll trek through Bali's jungle to reach one of the island's most ancient temples. Here, you'll participate in a traditional Melukat — a sacred purification ceremony using holy water.

Through ritual, prayer, and healing water flow, release what no longer serves you and invite spiritual renewal into your life. The day culminates with visits to UNESCO-protected heritage rice fields and a serene waterfall, weaving Bali's natural and spiritual beauty into your yoga journey.

Everything You Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning your retreat should feel effortless. If you have a question that isn't answered below, please don't hesitate to reach out — we're here to help.

01

Is this retreat suitable for beginners?

This retreat is designed for practitioners with at least some prior yoga experience. While you don't need to be an Ashtanga specialist, a general familiarity with yoga postures and breath-based movement will help you get the most from the Mysore sessions. If you're unsure whether this is the right fit, please contact us and we'll advise honestly.

02

What is the Mysore method?

Mysore is a self-paced practice in which each student works through their own sequence at their own rhythm, with hands-on guidance from the teacher. Unlike led classes, there is no instruction over a microphone — it is an intimate, meditative approach that allows Manuel to give personalised attention to each participant. All levels are welcome within Mysore format.

03

What's included in the retreat price?

Your retreat fee covers all daily Mysore practice sessions with Manuel, philosophy workshops, the Melukat purification ceremony, a sunrise mountain excursion, three organic plant-forward meals per day, and accommodation for the full duration of the retreat. Arrival and departure transfers from Ngurah Rai International Airport can be arranged on request.

04

What is not included?

International flights, travel insurance, personal expenses, any additional spa or wellness treatments, and optional excursions outside the scheduled programme are not included. We strongly recommend arranging comprehensive travel insurance before booking.

05

What is the Melukat ceremony?

Melukat is a sacred Balinese water purification ritual performed at a local water temple. Led by a Balinese priest, it is a deeply moving experience that cleanses both body and spirit, and offers a genuine connection to Bali's living Hindu tradition. We approach it with the utmost respect for local culture and custom.

06

Can you accommodate dietary requirements?

Yes. Our kitchen serves organic, plant-forward meals made with locally sourced ingredients. We can accommodate vegan, gluten-free, and most common allergies. Please note your requirements at the time of booking so our team can prepare accordingly. We are unable to guarantee nut-free environments.

07

What are the accommodation options?

We offer a range of room types to suit different budgets and preferences, from shared twin rooms to private garden suites. All rooms are furnished with natural materials, designed to feel calm and restorative. Full details and photos are available on our accommodation page. Room allocation is confirmed upon booking.

08

How do I book and what is the deposit?

To secure your place, a deposit of USD 300 is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 60 days prior to arrival. Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit card. Places are limited, so early booking is strongly encouraged.

09

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 60 days before the retreat start date will receive a full refund of the balance paid, minus the deposit. Cancellations within 60 days are non-refundable, however you may transfer your place to another participant. We recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation for any reason.

10

How do I get to Ubuntu from the airport?

Ubuntu Eco Yoga Retreat is located in Canggu, approximately 30–40 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) depending on traffic. We can arrange a private transfer for you at an additional cost — simply let us know your flight details when booking. Ride-hailing apps such as Grab and Gojek are also readily available.

11

What should I bring?

Lightweight, breathable yoga clothing, a personal yoga mat (or hire one from us), a reusable water bottle, light layers for early mornings, a sarong for temple visits, and any personal items you may need. We are an eco-conscious property — please avoid single-use plastics and opt for reef-safe sun protection.

12

Is there free time built into the schedule?

Absolutely. The programme is immersive but not relentless. Afternoons are largely unstructured, giving you space to rest, explore Canggu's cafés and rice fields, or book one of our in-house massage or bodywork treatments. Bali rewards those who slow down.
